Clarence Elmer DeMoss passed away at the Iowa Lutheran Hospital in Des Moines, Iowa on January 27th, 1975 at the age of eighty-six years. (Clarence) Elmer was born March 30th, 1888 in the Tools Chapel Community in Jasper County, Iowa, the son of George Riley and Betsy Russell (Marshall) DeMoss. On January 18th, 1910 in Newton, Iowa, he was united in marriage to Ida Mable Shelley who preceded him in death on May 9th, 1967. He is survived by two daughters, Helen Bell of Des Moines, Ia. And Mrs. Betty Lanphier of Dallas, Texas; two sons, Leroy and Francis DeMoss, both of Newton, Iowa. Three grandsons survive who are: Garold Bell of Des Moines; Wayne Bell of Dallas, Texas and Dennis Bell in the Air Force in Germany. There are three great-grandsons and three great-granddaughters who also survive him. Mr. DeMoss farmed in the Buena Vista community and later worked at the Parsons Company from where he retired. Clarence was baptized in the Tools Chapel Methodist Church where he was a member. He and his wife, Mabel, celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in 1960. Mr. DeMoss was preceded in death by his wife and one son, Carl. Funeral Services; Friday, January 31st, 1975, 1:30 P.M., Mt. Zion Methodist Church near Reasnor, Iowa. Organist: Mrs. Willard Bishop. Casket Bearers: Mr. Kenneth Van Wyngarden, Mr. Darrel Waring, Mr. Leslie Munger, Mr. Garold Bell, Mr. Wayne Bell, and Mr. Norman Schutte. Officiating: Rev. Donald Gatrelle. Interment in Mt. Zion Church Cemetery."
