Clarence Elmer Tibbets, son of Mr. and Mrs. Newton Tibbets, was born Aug. 2, 1878, at Elk Creek, and died Dec. 21 at O'Neill at the age of 74 years, 4 months and 19 days. When he was 5 years old his family moved to a farm northwest of Chambers, where he lived until 1921. He was married to Miss Hattie Ray Cooper of Chambers Dec. 23. 1908. They lived on the farm until 1921 when they sold it and moved to Chambers. A year later they purchased the local hotel and an automobile agency. Three years later they sold the hotel but Mr. Tibbets continued to operate the garage until seven yean ago. He retired because of failing health at that time. Mr. Tibbets is survived by his wife; four sisters. Mrs. Jessie Lowery of Parma, Idaho, Mrs. Margaret Wilson of San Bernardino, Calif., Mrs. Estella Long of Roswell, N. M. and Mrs. Gertrude Holcomb of House, N. M. and three brothers, Arthur of O'Neill, Bert of House, N. M., and Wesley of Ft. Sumner, N. M. Out-of-town relatives and friends attending the rites included Mr. and Mrs. Donald Grimes, Eaton, Colo.; Mr. and Mrs. H. C. Cooper and Mr. and Mrs. Hale Osborn, Winner, S. D.; Mr. and Mrs. Lyle Cooper, Sioux Falls; C. J. Barnum, Neligh; Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Tibbets and sons, Mr. and Mrs. H. B. Burch, Ed Thorin and Fred Grage, all of O'Neill.
