Read More	*Mary Laurence Tibbets* Grandma Tibbets, who had been afflicted with diabetes for a considerable time passed away at the home of her daughter, Mrs. John Lowery at Emmet, Nebraska on Thursday morning, November 26 1931 at 9 o'clock, at the age of 75 years, and 5 months. Mary E. Laurence was born in Elba county, Illinois, June 26, 1856. She was united in marriage to J. N. Tibbets on February 17, 1876 in Atchison county, Missouri. To this union nine children were born: Mrs. Jessie Lowery, Emmet; Clarence, of Chambers; Bert, and Mrs. Gertrude Holcomb, House, New Mexico; Mrs. Estelle Long, Roswell, New Mexico; Arthur, O’Neill, Neb.; Wesley, Alliance; Mrs. Margaret Paine, Riverside, Calif. and Walter, who was accidently killed at Alliance, less than two months ago. Mr. Tibbets passed away in their home at House, New Mexico in July of 1930. Mr. and Mrs. Tibbets were among the early pioneers of Holt county, leaving here in October of 1908 for House, New Mexico where they had continuously lived until death called Mr. Tibbets to end all earthly ties. Shortly after his demise, Mrs. Tibbets come to Nebraska to visit her chidren, ill health made it impracticable for her to return to New Mexico. Whereever she resided, Mrs. Tibbets was known as a good and helpful neighbor, she was always a ready helpmate, willing to share all the burdens of life as well as the joys, with her fellow traveler on life’s highway, she was also one who contributed her share of love and kindness to her children and all her loved ones. She leaves to mourn her departure, all the children, except Walter; grandchildren, and many friends who will miss her on the remainder of life’s highway. Funeral services were held in the Methodist church at Chambers, Nebraska, at two o’clock Sunday afternoon, conducted by the pastor, Rev. I. G. Hopkins. Beautiful music was rendered by the choir, Mrs. Van Robertson, Mrs. R. J. Graves, Ernest Farrier and Floyd Anderson with Mrs. E. J. Oxford as pianist. The pallbearers were: Chas Robertson, John Walter Sr., John Cox, Jack Kellar, Jeff Scott, and Link Sageser. Those from out of town attending the funeral were: Mr. and Mrs. John Lowery and family, of Emmet; Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Tibbets and family, of O’Neill; Wesley Tibbets of Alliance; Mr. and Mrs. Roth, of Emmet. Interment in the Chambers Cemetery.
