He was born September 28, 1922, at Hatton, the son of the late John and Olga (Bjerke) Bye. He attended rural school and grew to manhood in the Hatton community. He was a veteran of WWII serving in the United States Army from 1945 to 1947. He married Donna Enger on March 28, 1952, at Portland, ND. Bye, 79, Hatton, ND, died Wednesday, February 27, 2002, at the Tri-County Nursing Home in Hatton. He was born September 28, 1922, at Hatton, the son of the late John and Olga (Bjerke) Bye. He attended rural school and grew to manhood in the Hatton community. He was a veteran of WWII serving in the United States Army from 1945 to 1947. He married Donna Enger on March 28, 1952, at Portland, ND. The couple made their home west of Hatton and moved to Hatton in 1971. He had worked for the G.T.A. Elevator and Harvest States Elevator both in Hatton. He was a member of the St. John Lutheran Church and became a resident at the Tri-County Nursing Home in October of 2001. He is survived by his wife; 2 sons, Don (Elaine), Grand Forks, Douglas of Hatton; 2 daughters, Nancy (Dale) Denney, Grand Forks, Sharon (John) Griggs, Grand Forks; 11 Grandchildren; 4 Great Grandchildren; 3 brothers, Arnold (Thrine) Bye, Alfred Jr. (Ruby), Orvis (Marilyn ) Bye, all of Hatton; 3 sisters, Marie Pederson, Hatton, Frances (Reuben) Braaten, Mayville, and Delores (Robert) Kringlen, Larimore. He was preceded in death by 1 infant daughter, Laurie Ann. Services were held on Saturday, March 2 at 10:30 a.m. in the St. John Lutheran Church at Hatton with Pastor Harvey Jackson officiating. The organist was Adele Bye and the soloist Darlene Owen. The Honorary Pallbearers were Randy Bye, Brad Ness, Troy Ness, Mike Pederson, Steve Braaten, Neil Braaten. The casketbearers were Rodney Bye, Mark Bye, John Bye, Gerald Bye, Clyde Kringlen and Rick Pederson. The Presentation of the Flag was by the Carroll O. Flesche Post #70 Hatton American Legion. The interment will be held in the St. John Cemetery, Hatton. The Bilden Funeral Home, Hatton was in charge of arrangements.--Hatton Free Press, March 6, 2002.
