Clarence Tong 18, son of Mr & Mrs Hobart Tong of West Steet, Carey, has been missing in action since February 25, according to a telegram sent to the parents from the war department. Private Tong entered the army on Aug. 29, 1944 and trained at Camp Wolters, Texas. He left for overseas in January 1945. He was a member of an infantry unit and had seen service in Holland. He has two brothers in the service. PFC Robert Tong, a member of an engineering regiment believed to be somewhere in Germany or Holland, and Virgil Tong, a member of the U.S. Navy serving aboard a ship in the Atlantic theater of operations.
