Clarence was born May 30, 1925, on the family farm near Foxholm to John and Margaret (Keller) Bloms. He was raised in that area and attended Muskego Township School. Bloms, 85, Lansford, died Thursday, Jan. 6, 2011, at the Good Samaritan Society in Mohall. Clarence was born May 30, 1925, on the family farm near Foxholm to John and Margaret (Keller) Bloms. He was raised in that area and attended Muskego Township School. Like his siblings before him, when he finished the eighth grade, he went to work. Clarence served in the U.S. Army. Upon his honorable discharge he returned to North Dakota. He married Anita M. Engelhard on Sept. 9, 1947, at St. Philomena's Catholic Church in Glenburn. They made their home in Lansford Township, Bottineau County, south of Lansford, where they farmed and raised their family. In the winter months Clarence and several neighbors did carpentry work. They built many of the homes in the area and he also remodeled and added on to his own home. He retired from farming in 1988, but continued to help for many years. His wife Anita passed away on Oct. 3, 1994. Clarence enjoyed playing cards, square dancing and bowling. His Lansford bowling team won many trophies and tournaments across the state. Clarence married Alice Lorraine Holmes on March 24, 2000, at St. John's Catholic Church in Lansford. They made their home in Lansford, where he lived until April 2004, when he entered the Mohall Good Samaritan Society. Clarence believed in service to his community and served on many boards. He served on the Lansford Township Board for more than 30 years. He was a member of the Lansford Apartment Development Board, and served nine years on the Lansford Elevator Board. He was a member of the Lansford Rural Fire District and served as president in 1977. He was a member of St. John's Catholic Church in Lansford, where he served as trustee and was a Eucharistic minister. In 1965 he was chairman of the Building Committee when the new church was built. He was proud to be a member of the American Legion Kenneth C. Renz Post #279 in Lansford. Those who shared in his life: wife, Alice Lorraine Bloms, Lansford; daughters, Lynnette (Glen) Cunningham, Lansford, and Eileen (Curt) Schacher, Wilmington, N.C.; sons, Jerry (Joyce) Bloms, Minot, Kelly Bloms, Surrey, and Mitchell Bloms, Fargo; 11 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; stepchildren, Jean (Richard) Limke, Minot, and Jack (Truc) Holmes, Fallon, Nev.; four stepgrandchildren; seven stepgreat-grandchildren; and one stepgreat-great-grandchild; brother, Martin (Alice) Bloms, Grand Forks; sister, Bernice Redding, Minot; sisters-in-law, Garnet Bloms, Carpio, Mary Bloms and Marise Bloms, both of Minot, Vonnie Engelhard, Mandan, and Evelyn Smith, Raleigh, N.C.; brothers-in-law, Dennis (Deb) Engelhard, Salem, Ore., and Orvin (Bernie) Engelhard, Bismarck; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Clarence was preceded in death by: his first wife, Anita; parents, John and Margaret Bloms; brothers, Henry, Ralph, Fred and Daniel; sisters, Marie Hensen, Helen Korgel, Margaret Savelkoul and Rosella Bradley. Mass of Christian Burial: Tuesday, Jan. 11, at 11 a.m. at St. John's Catholic Church, Lansford. Burial: St. John's Catholic Cemetery, Lansford.
