LEERHOFF Clarence George Leerhoff, of Parkersburg, Iowa was born in Butler County, Allison, Iowa to Heiko and Alma (Hoodjer) Leerhoff on September 2, 1909. He passed away at the Cedar Falls Health Care Center July 22, 1999 of heart failure at the age of 89 years10 months and 20 days. He received his education in the rural school house on Sinclair Road in Jefferson Township. At the age of 19 he attended Gospel Meetings at the Cooster and found out he was a sinner and needed to be saved. He accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as his personal Savior through Acts 16:31 where the Phillipine jailer asked what must I do to be saved. The reply was Believe in the Lord Jesus Christ and thou shalt be saved. On November 17, 1935 Clarence was married to Fannie Sluiter at his parent's home in Parkersburg. To this union were born two daughters, Alma and Anna Mae. He and his wife farmed eight miles southeast of Allison until the age of 62. In the year of 1991, they moved to Parkersburg where they made their home. Clarence moved to the nursing home and was there for one week. He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers Fred, Heiko, Lawrence and Clifford Leerhoff; and two sisters Flora Williams and Grace Leerhoff. Clarence is survived by his wife Fannie Leerhoff of Parkersburg; two daughters Alma Kampman and her husband Vernon of Waterloo and Anna Mae Hahn of Cedar Falls; four grandchildren; seven great grandchildren and one sister, Lela Leerhoff of Waterloo. Funeral services were held 10:30 a.m. Monday, July 26, 1999 at Hitesville Gospel Hall, Aplington, Iowa, with Mr. Robert Orr officiating. Missing part of obit "How Great Thou Art", "A Little While", and "God Be With You." Casketbearers were Bud Williams, Lee Walters, Burdeen Sluiter, Jake Walters, Gene Snyder, and Russell Sluiter. Ushers were Larry Asche and LeRoy Kramer. Flower committee was Betty Williams and Laurie Kramer. Interment was in the Hitsville Cemetery, Aplington, Iowa. Schwartz Funeral Home in Parkersburg was in charge of the arrangements.
