He attended school at Minden, where he completed the eighth grade. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII. He married Goldie Thorns Dec. 31, 1946, in Omaha. They were the parents of three children. He was a member of the United Methodist Church in Shelby, American Legion Post #240, and the Shelby Fire Dept. He served as Postmaster of the Shelby Post Office from 1972 to 1975. He moved to the Salem Retirement Home in Elk Horn in Aug. of 1989. He died May 3, 1991 at St. Joseph's Hospital in Omaha, NE., at age 81 years, 1 month and 15 days. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Goldie; a brother, Orval and three sisters, Anna Legan, Mabel Messerschmidt and Lillie Ayres. Survivors are his children, Duane Krohn (Pat) of Virginia Beach, VA.; Larry Krohn (Coralyss) of Persia; Janie (Bert) Green of Chowchilla, CA.; Sally (David) Casey of Treynor, and Lindy Krohn of Shelby; five grandsons; two granddaughters; four great-grandsons; two great-granddaughters; a great great-grandchild; besides nieces, nephews and other relatives. Funeral services were held May 7, 1991, at the United Methodist Church in Shelby. Rev. Kate Bell, officiated. Burial was in the Shelby cemetery with military graveside services provided by the Shelby American Legion Post #240.
