He was born on May 29, 1924 in Amherst, the son of Henry John and Sophia (Kleffner) Miller. He was the fifth of five children: Leona, Francis, Berneice, Walter and Clarence. Clarence attended grade school at North Star School and McKelvey School. He graduated from Phillips County High School in 1943. Clydena Alexander and Clarence Miller were united in marriage in September of 1948 at St. Vincent de Paul Church in Denver. Four children were born to this union: Dan, Gordan, Terry and Peggy. Clarence farmed most of his life, and he owned and operated Miller Trucking for 20 years from 1969 until 1989. He was a lifelong member of St. Patrick Catholic Church in Holyoke and a member of Knights of Columbus. He was an avid outdoors man and loved to fish. Clarence made annual camping and fishing trips to the mountains of Colorado. Clarence rarely missed his morning coffee with friends in town. He was always willing to lend a helping hand to whoever needed help. All who knew Clarence knew of his passion for life, friends and family. Clarence Henry Miller is preceded in death by his parents and his sister Leona May Klitz who passed away on August 22, 2000. Surviving are his wife Clydena J. Miller of Holyoke; children Dan Miller and his wife Melody of Holyoke, Gordan Miller and his wife Susan of Greeley, Terry Miller and his wife Barbara of Castle Rock and Peggy Rafert and her husband Lenny of Holyoke; brothers and sisters Francis Miller of Lake Villa, Illinois, Berneice Behrent of Lakewood and Walter Miller and his wife Betty of Denver; brother-in-law Al Klitz of Holyoke; eight grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. Funeral mass of Clarence Henry Miller was Monday, April 23 at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Holyoke. Rosary service was held Sunday, April 22 at St. Patrick Catholic Church with Rev. Dan Zimmerschied officiating at both services. Interment was made at Holyoke Memorial Park.
