Read More	Holyoke Enterprise, Holyoke, CO, 31 Aug 2000 Leona M. Klitz, 86, of Holyoke died August 22, 2000, following an accident while on a trip to the South Dakota and Wyoming area. Leona was born in Cedar Rapids, Nebraska on March 21, 1914. She came to Colorado with her family as a child. She was raised on farms in the Holyoke area and attended local schools in the community. She worked in Denver for the Morrison family in her early adult life. Leona married Al H. Klitz on November 28, 1934. They began a life of farming in the Dodge, Nebraska area and moved to the community of Holyoke in 1937 to continue farming. Leona was an active member of Saint Patrick's Church of Holyoke. She and Al were the first couple married in Saint Patrick's Church, the day after its dedication. She was also an active member of the Art Guild, Paragon Club, Altar and Rosary Society and several neighborhood clubs. She was an active volunteer at the Prairie Vista nursing home and Melissa Memorial Hospital. She arranged for birthday cards to be sent from the White House to the residents of the nursing home, and she provided birthday cakes for the resident's birthdays. Leona enjoyed quilting, sewing, painting, cooking and canning. She made the ordinary "extraordinary." She served for many years as a county fair judge in northeastern Colorado. She loved to share recipes and participated in county fairs. She made many quilts including "comfort quilts" for babies with AIDS. Leona is survived by her husband Al; daughter Charlotte Sophia Greene and her husband Robert of Colorado Springs; son Ken and his wife Shanley of Boulder; and son Alan and his wife Sharon of Belle Fourche, South Dakota; brothers Francis Miller, Walter Miller and Clarence Miller; sister Bernice Behrent; 11 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren and a wealth of friends and neighbors. Funeral services were held at the Saint Patrick's Catholic Church with interment at the Holyoke Memorial Park.
