Clarence was born June 11, 1932, northwest of Clarksville in Butler County, Iowa. He was baptized and confirmed at St. John Lutheran Church in Clarksville. Read More	Clarence Irvin Laube, 86, of Aplington, died Monday, May 20, 2019, at the Cedar Valley Hospice Home in Waterloo from gallbladder cancer. Clarence was born June 11, 1932, northwest of Clarksville in Butler County, Iowa. He was baptized and confirmed at St. John Lutheran Church in Clarksville. The family moved to Kansas in 1935 and returned to what would become the family farm southwest of Clarksville in 1939. He attended country school at Butler #2 for eight years and then graduated from Clarksville High School in 1950. He served in the United States Army during the Korean War from February 5, 1953, until his honorable discharge on December 17, 1954. Upon returning from the war he worked at Oliver in Charles City and the State Highway Commission from 1956 to 1964. On June 21, 1956, he married the love of his life, Betty Fick, at St. James Lutheran Church in Allison. While on the highway commission they started to farm north of Allison. In 1964, the couple made their home in rural Clarksville where they farmed and raised their family. They retired from milking after 33 years but continued to tend to their stock cows. Betty passed away in 2009 and Clarence continued to live on the farm. In 2011, he was united in marriage to Sherry Reints at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, and they made their home in Aplington. Clarence was a member of the Aplington AMVETS where he would enjoy morning coffee and cards. In the evenings, he would play cards with family and friends. He was an avid sports fan, especially the Chicago Cubs. He also enjoyed putting puzzles together. Above all, he cherished time spent with his family. Clarence is survived by his wife, Sherry Reints, of Aplington, two sons, Irvin (Jennifer) Laube of Dike and Philip (Monica) Laube of Holland, two daughters, Susan (Allan) Lindaman of Plainfield and Sara (Kevin) Paar of Dike, a sister, Anna (Roger) Hoeper of Waterloo, Arlan Laube “brother” of Clarksville, 11 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren, 3 step great-grandchildren, 2 step sons, Kevin Reints and Tim (Jessi) Reints, and 2 step grandsons. He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Betty. Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, May 24, 2019, at the Aplington Evangelical Presbyterian Church with Pastor Greg DeJarnette officiating. Burial with military rites will follow in the Lowell Town Cemetery, rural Clarksville. Visitation will be held from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Thursday, May 23, at the Kaiser-Corson Funeral Home in Shell Rock and for an hour prior to services at the church on Friday. Memorials may be directed to Iowa City Cancer Research, Cedar Valley Hospice Home in Waterloo and Christian Crusaders. Kaiser-Corson Funeral Home in Shell Rock is in charge of arrangements
