Description	:	He attended grade school at District 78, Prague High School and was a 1948 graduate of Linwood High School. He farmed with his father until he was drafted into the U.S. Army. He served during the Korean War from June 28, 1951, to March 19, 1953, on the front line at the 38th parallel most of his tour of duty. He farmed with his father until he was drafted into the U.S. Army. Clarence returned to Linwood where he farmed. In his spare time, he was a catcher for the Linwood Aggies fast pitch softball team from 1953 to 1961. Clarence married Marlene Fencl on Feb. 15, 1958, at Prague Presbyterian Church. The couple lived near Linwood in Saunders County and farmed near Linwood and Morse Bluff, and also raised chickens, cattle and swine. He also worked at the Commodore Mobile Home Manufacturing Plant. In 1985, they moved to North Bend, where Clarence worked at the Blevins Popcorn Plant and later worked at Birchwood Manor as a maintenance man. He retired in 2002 and had been residing at Birchwood Manor since 2008. He was a member of Prague Presbyterian Church, American Legion Post 340 of Morse Bluff and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 8223 of North Bend. He was an honorary member of the Linwood Volunteer Fire Department and past director of the former Linwood Farmers Union Co-op. He was a member of the building site committee for the 1970 new North Bend High School District 95. He enjoyed gardening, playing cards, bowling and his daily visits to the "wind tunnel." Survivors include: his wife, Marlene; son, Robert Thege of North Bend; daughters, Cheryl Thege (and special friend, Dave Sliva) of Bellwood and Pam (and husband, John) Eggleston of Schuyler; daughter-in-law, Lorie Thege of North Bend; brothers and sisters-in-law, George and Mary Thege of Norfolk, Richard Thege of Linwood, Raynold and Pauline Thege of David City and Don and Alyce Thege of Schuyler; 10 grandchildren, Aaron and Jamie Nelson, David and Ryan Sliva, Taya, Tegan, Janessa, Jasavier, Jaslyn and Joelslyn; and a great-grandchild, Tanner Sliva. Clarence was preceded in death by his parents, George and Rose (Houfek) Thege; and granddaughter, Lisa Sliva.
