Description	:	George Joseph Thege, Jr., passed away Saturday, July 28, 2012 in Norfolk, NE. George was born on October 16, 1928 in Linwood, Nebraska, the son of George, Sr. and Rose (Houfek) Thege. George was raised on a farm near Linwood and graduated from Linwood High School in 1946. He joined the Air Force in 1948. Read More	George Joseph Thege, Jr., passed away Saturday, July 28, 2012 in Norfolk, NE. George was born on October 16, 1928 in Linwood, Nebraska, the son of George, Sr. and Rose (Houfek) Thege. George was raised on a farm near Linwood and graduated from Linwood High School in 1946. He joined the Air Force in 1948. He was stationed at Hickam Air Force Base, Honolulu, Hawaii, Savannah, GA, and Bourne End, England, during the Korean War. On June 27, 1950, he married Mary Ann Rueschhoff in Honolulu, Hawaii, on the Air Force Base. After receiving his honorable discharge in 1955, George and his family returned to Nebraska and made their home in Dodge. In 1961, they moved to Norfolk. He worked at Heckman Top and Body, as an auto body repairman. Later, George was employed by Bob Johnson VW, Dick Grace Ford, in Plainview, Dietz Well and Pump as a bookkeeper and Courtesy Ford, as office manager retiring after 22 years. George was a member of Sacred Heart Parish where he served as trustee and a member of the parish council. He sang in the parish's Bound for Glory Choir and was a member of the Knights of Columbus and the Golden Hearts Club. Following his retirement, George volunteered at St. Vincent de Paul for 10 years. George is survived by: wife, Mary Thege of 62 years; children and their spouses, David Thege, of Norfolk, Barb and Todd Papstein, of Norfolk, Allen Thege, of Lincoln, Patty and Joe Klima, of Norfolk, Susie and Dan Sauers, of Billings, MT, Dale Thege, of Lincoln; brothers and their spouses, Richard Thege, of North Bend, Raynold and Pauline Thege, of David City, Donald and Alyce Thege, of Schuyler; sister-in-law, Marlene Thege, of North Bend; 9 grandchildren, and 4 great grandchildren. George is preceded in death by: parents, son, Mark Anthony Thege, in 1974, and brother, Clarence Thege. Burial was in the Hillcrest Memorial Park Cemetery, Norfolk, NE.
