Description	:	Funeral services were held Saturday, Sept. 16, at 2 p.m., from the First Church of the Nazarene in Kenmare for Clarence Lanwick Hillestad, 77, who passed away Wednesday at a Minot hospital, where he had been hospitalized a short time following a stroke. Officiating at the service were Rev. Tom Harvey and Rev. Ellen Doke. Mrs. Irene Gravesen was organist and Mrs. Darla Wagner, vocalist. Pallbearers were Orville Gardner, Elmer Harkness, Elmer Hillestad, Alvis Martinson, Dale Raaum and Gerald Raaum. Mr. Hillestad was born August 28, 1901, at Sisseton, South Dakota, the son of James and Marie Raaum Hillestad. As a young child, he moved with his parents to Writing Rock, near Fortuna, in 1907, where the family homesteaded. When he was ten years old, the family moved to Greenbush, Township, and he attended Greenbush School. The family moved into Kenmare in 1938. He was baptized at the Bethel Lutheran Church in Sisseton, and was confirmed in the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Donnybrook. On June 9, 1938, he married Hilda Moen at Bowbells. For many years, he was manager of the Farmers Union Shipping Association, retiring from that position about 15 years ago due to poor health. He also served as director of the Farmers Union Credit Association for some time. Surviving are his wife, Hilda; a son, Henry James Hillestad of Cutbank, Mont.; a daughter, Mrs. Carlin (Connie) Jungberg of Towner; a brother, James Hillestad of Kenmare; two sisters, Mrs. Nellie Dunham of Miami, Fla., and Mrs. Lilly DeVore of Kenmare; and eight grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Dean in 1977; two infant brothers, and a sister, Pearl in 1947. From the scrapbook of Lillian Lundgren Zeltinger who passed away in 1997.
