Description	:	Clarence Oscar Schneider was born to Henry Gottlieb Schneider and Minnie Bode Schneider on July 19, 1902, at rural Fairmont, near the former town of Sawyer. He passed away Nov. 29, 1998, at the Fillmore County Hospital in Geneva at the age of 96 years, 4 months and 10 days. He was one of 12 children in the family. Read More	Clarence Oscar Schneider was born to Henry Gottlieb Schneider and Minnie Bode Schneider on July 19, 1902, at rural Fairmont, near the former town of Sawyer. He passed away Nov. 29, 1998, at the Fillmore County Hospital in Geneva at the age of 96 years, 4 months and 10 days. He was one of 12 children in the family. Clarence was raised on the family farm and attended county school through the eighth grade. Following this, he began helping with the family farm work. His entire working life was spent on the farm and during his working years he resided on three different farms in Fillmore County. He remained a farmer until his retirement in 1979, when he moved into the town of Fairmont. Clarence was married to Elsie May Eggert of rural Fairmont on April 10, 1926, and to them six children were born. Elsie died in June of 1983, and in March of 1987, Clarence married Elsie's sister, Maude, at his home in Fairmont. In his younger years Clarence enjoyed farming, hunting and the family spent many enjoyable times watching baseball games. His love of baseball continued throughout his life and he was a great Chicago Cubs fan. He also enjoyed dancing, playing cards, Bingo, reading westerns and watching birds. He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Minnie; by an infant son, Donald Dean; by his first wife, Elsie Mae; three sons-in-law, Leland Dado of Fairmont, Dale Jensen of Friend and Jack Hoarty of Wessington Springs, S.D.; granddaughter, Heidi Buehler of Lincoln; brothers, Leslie, Clifford and Henry; sisters Ada Chapman, Ivy Chapman, Rose Warren, Edna Galusha, Viola Sheldon and Minnie Myers. He is survived by wife Maude of Fairmont; sons Clarence V. and wife, Lucia of Lincoln, and Henry D. and wife Mary of Longmont, Colo.; daughters and sons-in-law, LaVerda and Darryl Hunt of Fairmont, Darleen and Ray Higgins of Wessington Springs, S. D., and Charleen and Stanley Otte of Columbus; sisters, Irene Lentfer of Portland, Ore., and Elsie Bures of Hastings; 13 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren and even great-great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews. Funeral services were conducted from the Farmer Funeral Home in Exeter on Wednesday, Dec. 2, 1998, at 10 a.m. with Rev. Betsy Galloway-Carew officiating. Musical selections were "In the Garden" and "How Great Thou Art." Casket bearers were Ricky Schneider, Patrick Hoarty, John Jacobs, John Burback, Bill Cudaback and Monte Chapman.
