Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Thursday, March 30th, at the St. Edward Presbyterian Church, with the Rev. Dale Bolton officiating. Burial was at the Evergreen Cemetery. Roberts Clarence Palmer Roberts, 73, of Genoa, passed away Tuesday morning, March 28, 1972, at the Genoa Community Hospital. He had been in failing health for some time. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Thursday, March 30th, at the St. Edward Presbyterian Church, with the Rev. Dale Bolton officiating. Burial was at the Evergreen Cemetery. Acting as pallbearers were Jack Roberts of Omaha, Jim Roberts, Joe Roberts, Maurice Matzen, Wm. Laudenklaus, and Kenneth Werner, all of St. Edward. Organ music was provided by Mrs. Gordon Matzen and she accompanied Mrs. Jim Gragert as she sang, "The Old Rugged Cross," and the congregation as they sang the hymn, "For All the Saints." Mr. Roberts was born November 4, 1898 in Platte County east of St. Edward, the son of John and Mary Palmer Roberts. He attended Boone County schools. He was married to Clara Kirchner February 21, 1922, at Columbus. They spent their married life in the St. Edward area with the exception of five years in the Loup City community. Mr. Roberts was a farmer and he attended the Presbyterian Church. Survivors are his wife, Clara; one son, Earl of St. Edward; one daughter, Mrs. Harold Boker of Omaha; six grandchildren, Mrs. Larry (Sally Berthelsen of Aurora, Colo., Steve and Louise Roberts, and Katy, Marsh, and Julie Boker of Omaha; one brother, Glen of St. Edward; two sisers, Mrs. Leslie (Etta) Sherlock and Mrs. Fern Goin, both of Los Angeles; and a host of friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother and two sisters. Friends and relatives attended the funeral from Omaha.
