Mr. Hain died at Mercy hospital, Iowa City, Feb. 5. The son of Arthur M. and Maude L. Long Hain, he was born at Caresbard, S.D. Jan. 16, 1911. He was educated in the rural schools of Cedar county. He married Elizabeth Hansen at Wilton, Jan. 27, 1934. A machine operator, he retired from International Harvester in 1972 after 25 years of employment. He lived in the Wilton and Durant areas before moving to Rochester 20 years ago. A veteran of World War II, he served from Jan. 3, 1944 to Jan. 13, 1945. He is survived by a son, Michael, Tipton; two grandchildren and a great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by his wife and three brothers. Tipton Conservative: Feb. 15, 1990 Clarence R. "Shay" Hain, 79, died Monday in Mercy Hospital, Iowa City, after a brief illness. He was a retired machine operator. Surviving are a son Michael, of Tipton, two grandchildren and a great grandchild. Services: 2 p.m. Thursday, Sheets & Son's, where friends may call from 3 to 5 and 6 to 8 p.m. today and from 9 a.m. until service time Thursday. Burial: Tipton Masonic Cemetery.
