Description	:	Clarence W. Laug, 81, Tecumseh, died Friday, Aug. 13, 2004, at BryanLGH Medical Center East in Lincoln. He was born May 3, 1923, on the home farm south of Vesta, the son of William and Bertha (Baucke) Laug. He attended District 8 rural school south of Vesta. Read More	Clarence W. Laug, 81, Tecumseh, died Friday, Aug. 13, 2004, at BryanLGH Medical Center East in Lincoln. He was born May 3, 1923, on the home farm south of Vesta, the son of William and Bertha (Baucke) Laug. He attended District 8 rural school south of Vesta. In May 2002, he graduated from Tecumseh High School with his grandchildren, Erin and Nathan, through the veterans program. He served his country during World War II, and was discharged Nov. 30, 1945, at Charleston, S.C. He served in the Army Transportation Corps with the Coast Guard as a cook on the ship that took German soldiers back and brought wounded soldiers to the United States. He married Merla Porter on Nov. 30, 1946, at St. Paul's Evangelical and Reformed Church. He farmed south of Vesta on the home place for 20 years, and was involved in construction for 50 years. He lived in Lincoln and worked for Norval Brandt Construction for three years and then had his own construction business. He was president of the church council, was Sunday School Superintendent, and had served on the Extension Board and on the Maple Grove Home Board for many years. He was a member of the American Legion and Kiwanis. His hobby was woodworking and he enjoyed going to his grandchildren's games and activities. He had spent the past 5 1/2 months in Madonna in Lincoln and the Beatrice Manor. Survivors: wife, Merla; daughters, Joyce Sporhase and husband Roland of Otoe, Nancy Laug Sholin and husband Steve of Omaha, Mary Lade and husband David, Shirley Lade and husband Ronald, all of Tecumseh; son, Lyle Laug and wife Tammy of Tecumseh; grandchildren, Michael Lade, Chad Lade and fianc? Mindy Else, Mark Sporhase, Lucas Lade, Nathan Laug, Erin Robeson and husband David, Nicole Lade, Justin Sholin, Lance Laug, Travis Sholin, Kyle Laug; sisters, Irene Bartels and Pauline Rinne, both of Steinauer; sisters-in-law, Ruth Thober and husband Kenneth, June Wilkinson, Marcella Porter, all of Beatrice. He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Bertha (Baucke) Laug; granddaughter, Cari Sporhase. Funeral: 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 17, St. Paul's United Church of Christ-Maple Grove, rural Tecumseh, the Rev. Jerry Hambleton officiating. Burial: Highland Cemetery, Adams. Visitation at Wherry Brothers Mortuary, Third and Jackson streets, Tecumseh, until 8 p.m. Monday with the family greeting friends from 6:30 p.m.-8 p.m. Memorials to family choice. Wherry Brothers Mortuary, Tecumseh, in charge of arrangements.
