Description	:	Obituary Clarence "Tony" William Heezen, 81, Plankinton, died Monday, Sept. 1, 1997, at Pleasant View Good Samaritan Center in Corsica. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Plankinton. Burial will be in the Mizpah Cemetery at Plankinton with military honors. Visitation will be from 7 to 9 tonight at the church; with a prayer service at 7:30 p.m. Shearer Funeral Home of Plankinton is in charge of arrangements. Mr. Heezen was born Feb. 8, 1916, in Hand County, the son of John and Margaret (Groen) Heezen. He grew up and attended school in Douglas County and moved to Aurora County in 1929. He served in the U.S. Army from Feb. 13, 1942 to Oct. 13, 1945. During that time he was stationed in the Asiatic Pacific Theater during World War II, including New Guinea and the Philippine Islands. He was awarded three Bronze Stars. After the service he returned to Hand County to farm with his brother, Ray. On Sept. 22, 1946, he married Betty Sorensen at Plankinton. They farmed in the Miller area until 1950, when they moved to a farm near Plankinton. He continued to farm, custom combine and shear sheep. He retired in July 1997 and moved into Plankinton. He entered the Corsica home on Aug. 30, 1997. He was preceded in death by four brothers, Richard, Ray and Herb and Wayne in infancy. -Obituary courtesy of Gloria Graves
