Clarice Eileen Peterman was born November 12, 1923, in St. Ansgar, Iowa, the daughter of Frank and Ruth (Gulliver) Peterman. She attended and graduated from Tipton High School with the class of 1942, and then attended Tipton Junior College. She married Russell Schwitzer in 1945, and were later divorced. She married Wilbert Brender in 1987. He died February 25, 1995. She married Charles Hanks in 1998. He died July 12, 2004. She was blessed with five children, Ronald, Karen, Linda, Joleen and Dennis. She worked at her brother's restaurant in Stanwood for many years. She then worked at Proctor and Gamble, where she was the first female forklift driver, until her retirement in 1987. She loved to bake, read, sew, crochet and work in the yard. She was a member of Stanwood Union Church. Surviving are three daughters, Karen Curran of Bensonville, IL, Linda (Duane) Bachus of Durant, and Joleen (Leon) Carpenter of Tipton; one son, Ronald (Kathy) Schwitzer of New Port Richey, FL; 10 grandchildren; 16 great-grand-children; two great-great-grandchildren; four step-daughters, Carol Lamp, Linda (Greg) Pritchard, Susan (Babe) Brender, and Joyce (Ted) Besley; one step-son, Richard (Lois) Brender; and several step-grandchildren; and step-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, a step-mother, her two husbands, one infant son, Dennis Schwitzer, three brothers, Donald, Dale and Jeff Peterman and two sisters, Shirley Peterman and Frances Tullis.
