Mrs. Clarecy Decker died at the ranch home north of Bozeman on January 1, after a lingering illness. She was born in Illinois in 1833 and spent her early life in that state. In the year 1854, she was married to William Decker and they made their home in Kansas until they came to Montana in 1864, and in September, 1864, they settled in Bozeman where their son, Aner [sic] Decker, was born, persumed [sic] to be the first white child born in Montana. They located on the East Gallatin where the family have resided ever since with the exception of a few years spent mining on Crow creek. Seven children survive, four sons and three daughters. They are: Harrison Decker, Lewistown; Perry Decker, Maiden; John Decker, West Gallatin; William Decker, Ennis; Mrs. John Melton, of the East Gallatin; Mrs. George Aiken of the East Gallatin; and Miss Clare Decker, who resides at home. There are 33 grand children and nine great grand children. The funeral services will be held at the ranch home at 11 o'clock Saturday morning, January 4, Rev. A.L. Chapman officiating, and interment will be made in the Hamilton cemetery.
