Description	:	Clark Jones of Honey Creek, son of John Jones and son-in-law of Shaw Broddie died at the home of his sister, Mrs. Joel Stilwell, in this city Saturday morning, of blood poisoning, and his remains were buried in Greenwood Cemetery. This young man's death was the result of an injury to one of his thumbs about ten days previous to his death and which was considered a very triffing injury at the time. The injury that resulted in the death of a strong, vigorous young man and one highly esteemed by all who knew him, was caused by a nail inside a barrel, one that had been driven through a hoop to hold it in place. The deceased reached down into the barrel for an article of some kind and when in the act of withdrawing his hand the top of the thumb caught on the nail and the nail being sharp pentrated to a considerable dept, causing a painful wound, but one that was not in the remotest degree considered serious or dangerous. He leaves a widow and three small children to mourn his early and untimelt death. Clark Jones who was the son of Mr. and Mrs. John S. Jones, of Honey Creek, was born in Illinois in 1867. Three years later the family removed to Kansas and located in this county, on the farm where the family now resides. On October 2, 1889 the deceased and Miss Annie Broddie became husband and wife and to them three children, two daughter and a son were born during their six years of happy, prosperous married life. The funeral services, conducted by Elder Ernest Bobbett were held at the Stilwell residence Sunday, followed by interment in Greenwood Cemetery. From Eureka Herald 25 October 1895 page 1.
