Description	:	YATES, CLARK W. — Clark W. Yates, well known Fillmore county farmer, passed away in his sleep at his country home south of Geneva, Sunday morning. Yates, well known Fillmore county farmer, passed away in his sleep at his country home south of Geneva, Sunday morning. Although he had not been well for more than a year, Mr. Yates remained active and his passing was unexpected. Clark W. Yates, the son of Lura and John W. Yates, was born February 3, 1889. He passed away Sunday, June 23, 1957, at the aged of 68 years, four months and 20 days. He became a member of the Christian church early in life. He was united in marriage to Almeda Welty April 16, 1912, at Seward. To this union three children were born: Marion W. Yates of Geneva, Norman C. Yates of Geneva and Mrs. Ralph (Marjorie) Bruns of Waco. The deceased attended Geneva high school and graduated from the University of Nebraska School of Agriculture in the class of 1908. He lived his entire life on the home place south of Geneva. He taught the agriculture class for war veterans at Strang from 1949 until 1952. He raised registered Angus cattle throughout his lifetime. He was a life member of the National Rifle Association and he won many trophies and medals for expert shooting. He was a member of the Nebraska Sheriffs and Peace Officers association. He was interested in all civic affairs and he was proud of the fact he never missed a public election. He was always willing to lend a hand wherever help was needed. He was preceded in death by his father and mother and one brother. He leaves to mourn his passing his wife, his daughter and two sons, also a sister, Mrs. W. B. Pangle of Aurora, Col., his son-in-law, two daughters-in-law, nine grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends. Funeral services were held Tuesday June 25, at 2 p. m. at the Kritner-Farmer funeral home in Geneva, with Rev. L. E. Werner officiating. Robert Hamilton of Geneva sang “The Old Rugged Cross” and “Going Home,” accompanied by Mrs. Willard H. Foster. Pallbearers were Wilbur Anderson, Harry Heller, Carl Janing, Kenneth Kimbrough, William Lauenstein and Francis McPeck. Interment was in the Geneva cemetery. (Source: The Nebraska Signal June 1957)
