His body was brought to Sargent for final rites. Services were held at Huston Funeral Home in Bassett Saturday morning at 10 o'clock, and at Spooner Funeral Home here at 2:30, with the Rev. Arthur A. Haniann of Bassett officiating. Music was furnished by Mrs. Harold Pointer, organist. Pallbearers were W. G. Birginal, John Green, Lloyd Cole, Lei and Sweet, Fred Cole and Tim Britton. Huston Funeral Home of Bassett, assisted by Robert Spooner, Sargent Mortician was in charge of the arrangement. Obituary Claud Lewis Cropper, son of William Thompson and Flora A. Cropper, was born January 30, 1892 on a farm near Sargent. He departed this life October 4, 1956 at the age of 64 years, eight months and four days in a Bassett hospital. On December 15, 1926 he was united in marriage with Miss Myrtle E. Cox at Kansas City, Mo. To this union one child, a daughter, was born. After residing in Kansas City for several years, the family came to Sargent, where Mr. Cropper entered business, later moving to Gordon, and the past 22 months he had been in business at Bassett. Claud was a public spirited citizen. He was active in several civic organizations, including the Lions Club and the Chamber of Commerce. The deceased leaves to mourn his passing his beloved wife, Myrtle; one daughter, Mrs. Betty Jo Axthelm of Ord; two grandchildren, Lonna Le and Stanley Axthelm of Ord; and three sisters, Mrs. Leta Ferris and Mrs. Ruth Derr of Omaha, and Mrs. Marie Longmore of Sargent. He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Winifred and Zata.
