Mr. Ellis was a native of Carter County and the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Claude Ellis. He was also preceded in death by three sisters and two brothers. Mr. Ellis was a truck driver for Hyder's Construction Company and a former member of the Teamster Union. He was of the Baptist faith. "Bob" Ellis, 65, 316 Lovers Lane, Elizabethton, who died Monday, May 14, 2001, will be conducted at 8 p.m. Wednesday, May 16, at Tetrick Funeral Home, Riverside Chapel, with Pastor J.B. Hensley officiating. Graveside services and interment will be at 1 p.m. Thursday, May 17, at Ellis Family Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be friends of the family. Honorary pallbearers will be Sam Crowe, Charles Hyder, Robert Whitehead, Randy Whitehead, Jigs Bowers, Carl Bowers, Terry Bowers, John Smith, James Smith, Earl Pierce, Paul Sams, Bill Hyder and Ernest Elliott. Mr. Ellis is survived by a grandson, Bill Ellis II, who was his best and true friend next to God. Everyone will meet at the cemetery at 12:50 p.m. Thursday for the graveside service. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
