Memorials may be made to the Claudine Wahl Memorial Fund. Mrs. Wahl was born Feb. 10, 1915, near Keota, the daughter of Samuel and Mary Elizabreth Fixmer Singmaster. She attended schools in Keota and later attended Ohio University and the University of Iowa. She moved to Victor in 1936 and married Horace Helmers Wahl Nov. 20, 1937, at Kahoka, Mo. The couple lived in Victor where they owned and operated the Western Auto Store from 1961 to 1971. She worked at Van's Clothing Store, Victor, from 1971 to 1987. Mrs. Wahl was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of the Latter-day Saints. She attended the Belle Plaine branch since 1976 and served an 18-month full-time mission at the Chicago Temple. She was also a member of the Victor American Legion Auxiliary and served in the Iowa County unit of the American Cancer society. Survivors include her children: Peter Wahl, Coronado, CA., Michael Wahl, Carroll, and Priscilla Root, Belle Plaine; her stepson, Horace "Bud" Wahl, Jefferson; 16 grandchildren; a sister, Dorothy Waltz, Cape Girardeau, MO., and a brother, Robert Singmaster, Clear Lake, CA. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, in 1981, and a brother, John Singmaster.
