Giltner, 88, of Washington, Iowa, died Thursday in Mercy Hospital in Iowa City after a nine-week illness. The funeral will be Monday, 1:30 p.m. at Sherman-Eden Funeral Home in Washington, conducted by the Rev. M.O. Smith. Burial will be in Ottumwa Cemetery. He was born Aug. 2, 1882, at Ottumwa [sic], the son of Frank and Felina [sic] Giltner, and was reared and educated in Ottumwa. He was first married to Olive Vest. On Nov. 5, 1956 [sic], he married Eva Hayes Jones in Atchison, Kan. He was a member of the United Methodist Church. He moved to Washington seven years ago from Carson City, Nev., where he was a night watchman and janitor at the capitol. Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Eva Giltner; four daughters, Mrs. Raymond Hiller of Washington, Mrs. William Geering [sic] of Tacoma, Mrs. Harold Nelson of Ottumwa and Mrs. Grover Elsensohn of Agency; two sons, Samuel of Minneapolis and Frank of Oceanside, Calif.; three stepdaughters, Mrs. Donald Kearney of Iowa City, Mrs. James Hoppenrath of Hillsboro, Wis., and Mrs. Norman Kelly of Mojave, Calif., and a number of grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Transcriber's Notes: The correct spelling of the first name for Cleff's mother was Filana. The correct spelling for the name of his daughter Clara was Mrs. William Goering.
