He was born on March 31, 1915, in New Vienna, son of Aloyisius and Anna (Wedewer) Lansing. He married Zita M. Klosterman on Jan. 24, 1939, at Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Petersburg, Iowa. He grew up in New Vienna and was a member of Resurrection Catholic Church. Surviving are his wife, Zita M. (Klosterman) Lansing; three sons, James A. (Marilyn) Lansing and Mark C. (Suzanne) Lansing, both of Dubuque, and David J. (Karen) Lansing, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; five daughters, Carol A. (John) Rolwes, of Farley, Iowa, and Betty L. Dunn, Grace C. (Arlyn) Wernke, Doris A. (Bill) McDermott and Lola M. (Dan) Coble, all of Dubuque; 24 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren; a brother, Aloys "Allie" (Agnes) Lansing, of New Vienna; and two sisters, Gertrude "Gertie" Steger, of New Vienna, and Josephine Boeckenstedt, of Greeley, Iowa. He was preceded in death by a son, Carl Lansing, on Aug. 22, 1973; a granddaughter, Jennifer Wernke; his parents; two brothers, Leo and John Lansing; and four sisters, Kathryn, Marie, Rosella and Agnes. The family requests no flowers. A Clement H. "Clem" Lansing Memorial Fund has been established by his family. The family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude to Hospice of Dubuque and Amicare for their comfort and concern shown to the family and Clem during the final days of his illness.
