Josie was born Sept. 6, 1911, in New Vienna, daughter of Alois and Anna (Wedewer) Lansing. She married Elmer H. Boeckenstedt on Oct. 7, 1930, in New Vienna; he preceded her in death on Sept. 20, 1970. The couple farmed in the Greeley area. Josie enjoyed singing in St. Joseph's choir in Greeley for 40 years. She loved quilting and her many grandchildren. Surviving are her children, Allie Boeckenstedt, of Greeley, Leon Boeckenstedt and Merle (Judy) Boeckenstedt, both of Manchester, Alice (Reynold) Tegeler and Agnes (Robert) Wegmann, both of Edgewood, Elaine (LeRoy) Mullis, of Earlville, Jane (Win) Thomas, of West Lebanon, Ind; 38 grandchildren; 57 great-grandchildren; several great-great-grandchildren; a son-in-law, Don Moorman; a brother, Alois Lansing, of New Vienna; and a sister-in-law, Zita Lansing, of Dubuque. She also was preceded in death by her parents; three children, Gladys Boeckenstedt, Elmer Boeckenstedt Jr., and Mary Moormann; three brothers, John, Clement and Leo Lansing; three sisters, Catherine Boeckenstedt, Gertrude Steger and Marie Weber; and a granddaughter, Susan Wegmann.
