After spending the early part of his life in Iowa, he moved with his parents to a farm near Jennings, Kansas, where he spent the greater part of his life. In 1945 he moved to Burr Oak and two years later moved to Esbon where he was manager of the Esbon Grain and Feed Company at the time of his death. He taught school four years in Decatur county, then engaged in farming near Jennings, where he gave liberally of his time and energy for the welfare of the community; serving on the A.A.A. board, organizing the 4-H club in the Lone Star District and serving as its leader for several years, and on other projects for the betterment of farmers. In Esbon he has served as mayor for the past four years and has been active in all community affairs, His willingness to be of service, and a genuine concern for the promotion of any worthwhile endeavor endeared him to all with whom he came in contact. His friends are counted by the number of his acquanintances. His personality and smile will be remembered by all who knew him. On July 25,1915 he was married to Myrna Ethel Rouse. To this union was born two daughters, Opal Rudolph of Riley,Kansas and Hazel Janousek of Mankato,Kansas. Clifford had two grandchildren, Dickie Janousek of Mankato, Kansas and Karolyn Janousek who preceded him in death. When a young man he joined the Methodist Church at Jennings and served in various capacities as superintendent, teacher and board member. Later he transferred his membership to the Evangelical United Brethren church at Esbon where he was a faithful member at the time of his passing. He was also a member of the Woodman Lodge of Jennings,Kansas. He leaves to mourn his death, his faithful wife, two daughters, two sons-in-law, George Rudolph and Howard Janousek, one grandson, five brothers and a host of relatives and friends.
