A memorial service will be held at 2pm Wed Nov 21 at Mitchell Berean Church with Pastor Scott Mathis officiating. A private family interment will be held earlier that day at Pleasant Hill Cemetery on Stegall Road near the family ranch. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Camp Rock or the donor's choice. Cliff was born Oct 18, 1925 in Gering to Henry J. and Anna(Schlotthauer)Dietrich. He grew up in rural Gering and attended Gering Schools. On Feb 23, 1947 he married Nadine SCHMUCK the love of his life. Together they briefly operated a flower shop in Gering before farming in the Cedar Valley area for 23 years. During this time Cliff received numerous awards for Great Western Sugar Company high yield production and served as a member of Cedar Canyon School Board. He also acquired a keen interest in John Deere farming equipment that continued throughout his lifetime. In 1970 Cliff purchased the family ranch in Hull Community south of Stegall. There his career goals were fulfilled tending to the cattle and meticulously maintaining the fencing and windmills up until the end of his life. To supplement ranching Cliff and Nadine also worked together as a team as licensed real estate brokers in the valley for over 30 years holding memberships in the National Board of Realtors and ScottsBluff County Board of Realtors associations. Cliff was a cowboy at heart who loved his horse Reno, rodeo, western saddles, spurs, hats and boots. Although he never hunted Cliff possessed an unquenchable passion for firearms that directly related to ongoing research he conducted on the topics of American history and western art. He was a contributing author in the second edition of the Winchester Book and a lifetime member of the National Rifle Association. Cliff was dearly loved by his wife, children and grandchildren whom he likewise cherished. He firmly believed each one of them would continue to faithfully live out his legacy through their unique God-given talents and personal aspirations. Survivors include his wife Nadine, daughters Roxanne(Randy)Smith of Missoula MT and Natalie(David)Jenkins of Scottsbluff; son Oak Lee(Crystal)Dietrich of Grand Junction CO; granddaughters Dr Natasha Jenkins of Scottsbluff and Jaclyn Jenkins of St Louis MO, grandsons Ryan Smith of New York NY, Graham Smith of Missoula and Mitchel Dietrich of Grand Junction; brother Elmer Dietrich of Geringand close friends Dan Phinney and Terry Jessen both of Scottsbluff. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother Melvin Dietrich.
