He was born March 30, 1931 on the family farm in Gering, the son of Henry J. and Anna (Sclotthauer) Dietrich. He served in the United States Navy as a Metal Smith on the USS Intrepid from 1952-1956. On Oct. 3, 1952 he married Deloris (Dee) Edgar in Ventura, California. They lived in Oregon then Arizona, and California before returning to Scotts Bluff County to Farm in 1957. Five grandchildren; Neri Evans, Macksville, Kansas, John Evans and wife Shelly, Macksville, Kansas, Kandi Evans, Goodwell, Oklahoma, Nisha Dietrich, Hiaku, Hawaii, Trevor Dietrich, Broomfield, Colorado and five great-grandchildren.
