Mass of the Christian burial for Mr. McCarville, who founded McCarville Motor Co. of Carroll, will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 19, at Holy Spirit Church in Carroll with the Rev. Richard Remmes officiating. Casket bearers will be Dean McCarville, Jeff McCarville, Kelly McCarville, William Baumhover, George Crouse and Bob Flanagan. Lector will be Gerald Wagner. Mass of the Christian burial for Mr. McCarville, who founded McCarville Motor Co. of Carroll, will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 19, at Holy Spirit Church in Carroll with the Rev. Richard Remmes officiating. Casket bearers will be Dean McCarville, Jeff McCarville, Kelly McCarville, William Baumhover, George Crouse and Bob Flanagan. Lector will be Gerald Wagner. Gift bearers will be Cory McCarville, Colby McCarville, Cristen McCarville, Danny McCarville, Sommer Stokes and Skyler Stokes. Burial will be in Carroll Cemetery. Friends will call after 2:30 p.m. Monday at Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Carroll. There will be a rosary at 3 p.m. by the Knights of Columbus and a Christian wake service at 7:30 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. He was born April 16, 1907, at Moreland, Iowa, a son of Benjamin and Elizabeth (Boylan) McCarville. He and Verna Graney were married Aug. 17, 1935, at Mason City. She died in 1972. He and Venita Beiter were married May 7, 1973, at Denton, Texas. She died in 1984. Mr. McCarville spent 70 years in Carroll. He worked for McCoy Motors in Carroll from 1929-42 then founded McCarville Motor Co. in 1942. He sold cars for Pontiac and AMC from 1947-1981. Mr. McCarville was one of the original advertisers on KCIM Radio and he maintained his "Cliffs Cartoon" program from 1948-85. He was also an auctioneer, starting at age 15 and training many young men in the business. A member of Holy Spirit Parish, he was a lifetime member of the Knights of Columbus and was one of the founders of the Carroll Elks Lodge. He was a member of the Carroll Elks Lodge until it closed and then joined the Jefferson lodge. He was also a 50-year member of the Iowa Automotive Dealers Association and a former member of the Carroll Fire Department, Carroll Moose Lodge and the Carroll Country Club. Mr. McCarville lived at Carroll Health Center the last 9 years. Survivors include a son, William McCarville, and his wife, Bernice, of Carroll; four grandchildren: Dean McCarville of Huxley, Iowa, Jeff McCarville of Carroll, Kelly McCarville of St. Louis, Mo., and Beth McCarville of Iowa City; six great grandchildren; eight step grandchildren; and a sister-in-law, Regina McCarville, of Waterloo. Mr. McCarville was preceded in death by his parents; his wives; a great grandson, Tommy McCarville; three brothers: Leonard, Clarence, and Ray McCarville; two sisters: Margaret McCarville and Regina Wagner; and a stepson, Frank Beiter.
