He was born October 14, 1919 in Durham, IA to Samuel Louis & Hester Van Alst Beaver. He married Leta M. Johnston on December 20, 1941 in Unionville, MO. They had been together 70 years when she preceded him in death on September 6, 2012. He attended schools in Eureka and Harvey & lived in Harvey before moving to Ottumwa. Aug. 2nd, 2015 at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City. He was born October 14, 1919 in Durham, IA to Samuel Louis & Hester Van Alst Beaver. He married Leta M. Johnston on December 20, 1941 in Unionville, MO. They had been together 70 years when she preceded him in death on September 6, 2012. He attended schools in Eureka and Harvey & lived in Harvey before moving to Ottumwa. He was a member of First Pentecostal Assembly of God. Cliff and Leta were involved with Paralyzed Veteran's of America and O. B. Nelson Unit #3 American Legion Auxiliary. In the 1930's he worked in the C. C. C. camps. He had worked as a coal miner, worked on the Burlington Northern Railroad, worked 22 years fpr John Morrell & Co. & did janitorial work for the City of Ottumwa. Cliff loved hunting, fishing, playing horseshoes, watching Cubs games, & going to the casinos. He loved his family and friends and visiting with his friends at McDonald's when he was able. Surviving is a daughter Charlene (Don) Songer of Bull Head City, AZ, a son Clifford Leroy Beaver of Davenport, IA. 4 grandkids, 9 great-grandkids, and 8 great-great-grandkids and a sister-in-law Eva Taylor of Lacona, IA. He was preceded in death by his parents, a step-father William Beaver, a son Michael Hugh Beaver, a daughter-in-law Donna Beaver, 5 sisters Fay Miller, Hilda Bunner, Fern Hedgwood, infants Dorothy & Josephine Beaver, 2 brothers Tom & Robert Beaver.
