Riding a bicycle on the county highway a mile and a half north of here, the youth was not seen in time to stop by Freed, whose vision was handicapped by headlights of an approaching car. Freed assisted in taking the injured youth to Whitten for medical care, but death occurred before Vinton could be removed from the car. Clifford Otis Vinton was born on a farm near Whitten Oct. 19, 1921. He was a member of the junior class of the Whitten high school and an outstanding member in athletics, taking an active in baseball and basketball. He was a member of Sunday school of the Christian church of Whitten. Surviving are his parents, two sisters. Gladys and Marilyn, and five brothers, Donald, Clarence, Merle, Dale and Robert. He also leaves two grandmothers, Mrs. Esther Saint of Whitten and Mrs. Mary E. Vinton of St. Cloud, Minn. Funeral services were held from the Whitten Christian church on Wednesday, and interment was made in the Eldora cemetery. Pallbearers were George Peterson, basketball coach, and five members of the team, James Moore, William Rowen, Dudley Gray, Milo Schwarck, Thomas long. Flower girls were teachers, Helen McGahey, Phyllis Christy, Jane McGinnis and Mrs. Pederson. Music was furnished by the Hauser quartet.a Those attending from a distance were Mary E. Vinton, Ira E. Nordquist, Fren H. Grewe and Hattie McCormack, all of St. Cloud, Minn.; Mr. and Mrs. H. M. Brown and Charles, of Nashua; Mr. and Mrs. Claude Winters, Mr. and Mrs. Claude Vinton, Mrs. And Mrs. Leslie Vinton, Mrs. Sade Vinton, all of Eldora; Mr. and Mrs. George Meyers, Mrs. Jennie Meyers, Mrs. Nellie Meyers, Mrs. Harvey Meyers, Mrs. O.
