Corporal Dale Raplee, who has been in the army for the past fourteen years, is reported "missing in action" since December second. A telegram was received last Wednesday by Mrs. Bernice McCurdy, of Tescott, who had been about the same as a mother to Raplee for many years. He was a son of Mr. and Mrs. Albert J. Raplee, both of whom died many years ago and Dale was taken care of and reared by Mrs. McCurdy. Dale was a corporal in the 38th infantry regiment of the Second Division. He had been in the quartermaster corps for thirteen years, but was transferred to the infantry about a year ago. Dale had seen nine years service overseas. He was in Germany with the army for a time and was married while there. His wife now makes her home in Temple, Texas, but just at present is visiting Mrs. McCurdy at Tescott. While they still have hopes that he may be found later, the fact that he has been missing for over a month makes those hopes rather dim. Dale was 37 years old. He has a brother, Boyd Raples(sic), living in Junction City.
