Ward and One of Best Young Men of Town Special to Times-Republican. Eldora, August 6. Clinton Ward, aged 21, son of Attorney and Mrs. George W. Ward, was instantly killed at 10 o'clock this morning. He was employed in repair work on the wires of the Iowa River Light and Power Company and at the time was working on a pole in the northwest part of town. He, with others of the workmen, thought all the wires were dead, but this proved not to be the case and Ward's body just under the left arm came in contact with a live wire. In an effort to save himself from falling, he grasped another wire with his right hand, thus forming a complete circuit and causing instant death. The body was removed from the pole and four physicians worked long in an effort to revive him, but without avail. Young Ward was a graduate of the Eldora High School, Class of 1911 and was considered one of the best boys of the town. The family has been prominent in civic and social affairs here for many years, his father having been county attorney at one time and his mother an officer of the Grand Lodge of the Eastern Star. He is survived by the father, mother and three sisters.
