Lung trouble was the cause of her long sickness and death, and for the past three years, she had been confined to her home. Vedder to be the officiating clergyman. Clarinda B. Roy was born Aug 24, 1843 near Wheeling, West Virginia. When she was 13 years old her parents moved to Illinois and settled near Farmer City, and when she was 21 she was married to James Davis. To them were born two children, Mrs. D. L. Gardner of Massena, Iowa, and W. P. Davis of Villisca. Five years after her marriage she was left a widow and returned home to her parents where she made her home for seven years. Then she was married to Mahlon Gardner November 27, 1879 and to them was born one child; Grace. Nineteen years she was converted and united with the Methodist church in Saybrook, Illinois and since had lived a faithful and Christian life. Mrs. Gardner, had lived in Villisca and vicinity about 13 years and was known by many friends as an exceptionally kind and cheerful wife, mother, and neighbor who patiently endured her long suffering to the end. The afflicted family has the deepest sympathy of the community.
