Description	:	Clyde A. Drake, 95, of Sargent died Sunday, Jan. 17, 2010, at his home. Mr. Drake was born Sept. 18, 1914, in Loup County near Almeria to John Edward and Nora Lee (Hess) Drake. In 1940, he married Bessie Hoobler. She preceded him in death in 1943. In 1948, he married Rose Marie Cochran. Survivors of the immediate family include his wife, Rosie; a daughter and son-in-law, Clydene and Tom Smith; two sons and daughters-in-law, Michael and Wanda Drake and Scott and Kellie Drake; and foster daughter, Gaye Lynn Felker. Drake, 95, of Sargent died Sunday, Jan. 17, 2010, at his home. Mr. Drake was born Sept. 18, 1914, in Loup County near Almeria to John Edward and Nora Lee (Hess) Drake. In 1940, he married Bessie Hoobler. She preceded him in death in 1943. In 1948, he married Rose Marie Cochran. Survivors of the immediate family include his wife, Rosie; a daughter and son-in-law, Clydene and Tom Smith; two sons and daughters-in-law, Michael and Wanda Drake and Scott and Kellie Drake; and foster daughter, Gaye Lynn Felker. Additional survivors include five grandchildren, Nicole (Chriss) Tobin, Jeffrey Felker, Jeremy Drake, Paul Drake and Schenae Drake; two great-grandsons, two stepgreat-granddaughters; and many nieces and nephews. Clyde's early childhood was spent on farms around Almeria. At age 10, he moved with his family to a farm near Bentonville, Ark., where they lived for three years. When they returned to Loup County, he continued his education in Almeria Liberty and Knobby Ridge County Schools. He worked on farms and ranches in the neighborhood while helping his parents on their farm. He was proud of the fact he had never had to apply for a job, when he didn't have one, there was always someone waiting to hire him. Clyde and Bessie had one child, Clydene Vondell Drake. Clyde and Rosie added to their family a son they adopted, Michael, then Scott was born. A special joy in their life was foster daughter, Gaye Lynn. Clyde left the farm when his first wife died and moved to Taylor. He worked for Charley Arnold as an electrician until he moved to Sargent in 1948 and began work in the John Deere business. He was a John Deere dealer for 31 years. He considered every customer his friend and treated them accordingly. After retirement, he spent the remainder of his years in Sargent except for two years he lived at Lake Ericson. He loved gardening and had a large garden as long as his health permitted. He always had many vegetables to share with friends and neighbors. He was proud of the fact that he was member of the school board when Clydene graduated so he had the privilege of handing her, her diploma. Clyde is preceded in death by his parents, John and Nora, seven brothers, Elmer, Albert, Francis, Glenn, Kenneth, Edward and Harry; four sisters, Ethel, Myrtle, Grace and Mildred; son-in-law, Jeff Felker, nieces and nephews.
