Read More	Clyde Ross Meets Accidental Death Near Rockford Clyde Ross, prominent farmer of York Township, lost his life in an accident which occurred about 2:30 Monday afternoon, in the vicinity of Rockford, where he was employed. No one witnessed the accident, but it is thought that Ross lost his footing while crossing Castle Creek on a log, and struck his head on a rock. Ross, Robert "Bud" Moore, Joe Gottwalt and Ben Weidner, all of Miller were working in the same crew, cutting pulp wood, but had separated in to groups of two. Gottwalt, who had been working with Ross, had gone to another area, after Ross had filled his truck, and announced that he was crossing the creek to work. He was not missed for bout ten minutes, and then was discovered lying on his back near the edge of the creek. He had fallen about seven feet, and is believed to have died instantly. Ross had spent the winter in the Hills, cutting pulpwood for the Garhart and Pool company. He returned home about a week ago to take care of farming interests, and returned to the Hills to resume work the day before the fatal accident. He had arranged his farming operations so that he could remain away during the summer. Funeral arrangements are still incomplete, but will probably be held on Friday. Mr. Ross is survived by his wife, and one brother, Glen. He was 60 years old. Ross was for many years prominently associated with the Farmer Union holding in St. Lawrence, and was a director of the various agencies. May 24, 1957 Heart Attack, Not Fall Caused Clyde Ross Death Final rites for Clyde Ross, York township farmer, were held last Friday afternoon, May 24, from the Reck Funeral Chapel. The Rev. Walter Larrabee of St. Lawrence conducted the services. Burial was made in the cemetery at St. Lawrence. Active pallbearers were Esko Horn, George Melber, Jr., Dave Stiles, Earl Horn, Lawrence Resel and Robert Moore. Ross died last Monday while at work in the vicinity of Rockford, where he was employed, cutting trees. It was at first thought that he had died as the result of a fall while crossing a creek, but an autopsy later determined the fact that his death was due to a heart attack. He had suffered with a heart condition several years ago, but had had no further attacks in the meantime.
