He passed away November 30, 1965, at the Fillmore County Hospital in Geneva, Neb., having attained the age of 81 years, 9 months and 23 days. He was the son of James L. Ewart and Allie (King) Ewart. His young days were spent near Plattville and Gravity, Ia., and Sheridan, Mo. At the age of 21 he went to Columbus, Mont., and was employed on a ranch for two years. In the fall of 1907, he came to Geneva, Neb., and made his home in this vicinity until his death. He was employed on several farms until 1910 when he, his brother Harry and his sister Ollye moved onto a farmstead five miles northwest of Geneva. In 1912 Clyde was united in marriage to Vallia F. Stinton, at the Methodist parsonage in Geneva. They made their home on the farm until 1923, when they purchased Vallia’s former home, continuing to reside there until his retirement in February, 1947. In 1934, a nephew, Paul Archer, upon the death of his mother, came to make his home with them until he was 18 years of age, at which time he enrolled at the University of Nebraska. In 1947 the Ewart’s moved into their newly built home in Geneva, where they have spent many happy years. They liked to travel and visited many parts of the United States. They were privileged to celebrate their golden wedding anniversary together in 1962. Clyde was a member of the Geneva Cemetery Association, serving for many years as the superintendent of the cemetery. He had served as a member of the Fillmore County Hospital board and the Geneva City Council. He was a past chairman of the Red Cross and also of CROP. He attended the Methodist Church in Geneva. Clyde was an extensive cattle and hog feeder while on the farm, as well as a crop farmer. While he had been active in a number of civic activities, his main interest, even after retirement, lay in farming and cattle feeding operations in this area. He was a man who greatly loved and respected the soil, always putting back into the land that which had been taken out. He took great pride in his buildings and farm yard. Preceding him in death were his father, his mother and a brother, George, who died in infancy. He leaves to mourn his passing, his beloved wife, Vallia; one brother, Harry of Wheatland Wyo.; two sisters, Ollye Ewart Huston of Aledo, Ill., and Verniece Ewart Brown of Kansas City, Mo., five nephews, Paul Archer of Geneva, Switzerland; Eugene Archer of Detroit, Mich., Harold Archer of American Lakes, Wash., Jim Ewart of Denver, Col., Harry Huston of Aledo, Ill.; three nieces, Patsy Brown Hill of Denver, Col,; Vivian Ewart Christiansen of Kimball, Neb., and Laveeta Stinton of Klamath Falls, Ore., along with several other relatives and a host of friends. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Friday, December 3rd, at the Kritner-Farmer Funeral Home in Geneva with Dr. Everett E. Jackman, minister of the First Methodist Church of Geneva officiating. Mr. and Mrs. Sheldon Johnson, accompanied by Mrs. Willard H. Foster sang “Blessed Assurance.” Pallbearers were Glenn Carlson, Kermit Carlson, Larry Carlson, John Koehler, Joseph Turek, and W. C.
