Description	:	Clyde (Bunck) Lloyd Cooley, 83, passed away at his home on Friday, Feb. 16, 2007, in the care of his loving wife, family and friends. Clyde was born on July 12, 1923, in Kadoka, S.D., to Hersey Blake and Theresa Maria Cooley. He grew up in various places in South Dakota and graduated from Spearfish High School in 1942. During high school he excelled in football, basketball and track. In 1948 he started his own painting company with Aldy Hobbs (Hobbs and Cooley), later renamed Black Hills Painting, which he successfully ran until his retirement in 1985. Clyde was born on July 12, 1923, in Kadoka, S.D., to Hersey Blake and Theresa Maria Cooley. He grew up in various places in South Dakota and graduated from Spearfish High School in 1942. During high school he excelled in football, basketball and track. In 1948 he started his own painting company with Aldy Hobbs (Hobbs and Cooley), later renamed Black Hills Painting, which he successfully ran until his retirement in 1985. Bunck was lucky to have two great loves in his life. He and his first wife, Carmen, were married for 35 years. Carmen and Bunck had two daughters. Carmen preceded him in death in 1983. On Feb. 14, 1986, he married his 2nd wife. As an influential member of the community, Bunck contributed in many ways. He proudly served in the US Army 757th tank battalion during World War II. He was a member of the American Legion, Veterans's of Foreign Wars and the National Rifleman's Association. He also was the Spearfish Fire Chief from 1969 to 1970, a valued member of Spearfish Volunteer Fire Department for 20 plus years. Bunck enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, watching football and spending time with friends and family. He had the unique ability to touch people in many ways whether it was by passing on his passion for the outdoors, contagious laugh, his example of hard work and honesty, and/or his relentless pursuit of dreams. One of his greatest accomplishments was the building of his cabin on Tollgate Flats Gulch. All those who know Bunck know that a piece of his heart is left there. Bunck is survived by his wife, two daughters; seven grandsons, three granddaughters and 13 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers Don Cooley, Joe Cooley, Harry Cooley, Bob Cooley and sisters Ann Cooley Cross and Oma Cooley Rothmeyer and a grandson Jared John Heck. Visitation will be at the Aldinger Funeral Home in Spearfish Monday, Feb. 19, 2007 with a prayer service at 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorials may be given to the Spearfish Volunteer Fire Department or the Hospice of the Northern Hills. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, Feb. 20, 2007 at the United Methodist Church in Spearfish with Rev. Kip Roozen officiating. Burial with Military Honors will be at Black Hills National Cemetery at Sturgis. The Aldinger Funeral Home has been entrusted with the services.
