He served in the 69th Division of the 273rd Infantry... Read More	ARBUCK, CLYDE RALPH—Clyde Ralph Arbuck, son of Henry and Mary E. Lutz Arbuck, was born in Fairmont township November 3, 1919. He passed away at his home in Fairmont at the age of 78 years, 9 months, and 3 days. He attended grade school at rural schools in Fillmore county and completed two years at Fairmont High School. Growing up he helped work on his parent’s farm, along with his six brothers and two sisters. He worked as a mechanic prior to being drafted into the Army, March 28, 1942. He served in the 69th Division of the 273rd Infantry where he was in charge of the motor pool and was stationed in England, France, Belgium, and German from November 15, 1944, until his discharge January 15, 1946. He had earned the rank of Master Sergeant and received the bronze star and good conduct medal. He was proud to have served his country and especially proud that the “fighting 69th” was the first division to meet the Russians on April 25, 1945. Clyde was united in marriage to Marilyn Louise Domeier on June 18, 1950, at the Federated Church in Fairmont. They made their home in Fairmont where Clyde was residing. To this union four children were born: Gary Eugene, Linda Diane, Randy Lee, and Cindy Renee. Marilyn passed away suddenly from a cerebral hemorrhage August 6, 1973. They enjoyed 23 years of marriage. He went to work for Ernest Mumby of Fairmont in 1950, where he was employed for 20 years. In 1971, he went to work as a custodian for the Fairmont Public Schools. He retired after 16 years of service in 1987. He was a member of the Fairmont Community Church. Clyde enjoyed gardening and making wood novelties. He was known to give some of them away as practical jokes. He was a caring and loving father and grandfather. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Marilyn; half-brother, Raymond Lutz; brothers, Carl, Clarence, and Marion; sisters, Gladys Thomas and Caroline Styskal. He is survived by sons, Gary and wife Mary, Randy and fiancée Carla Bailey; daughters, Linda Friesner and husband, Gary; and Cindy Arbuck; brothers, Perry and wife Zesta, Russell and wife Greta; grandchildren, Brent and Andrea Arbuck, Jamie Arbuck; step-grandchildren, Jeff and wife Monica Friesner, Mike and Mindy Friesner, and Ryan Friesner; three step-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Funeral services were conducted at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, August 8, 1998, from the Fairmont Community Church with Rev. Laura Bartels officiating. Nancy Jo Galusha accompanied the Fairmont Community Church choir who sang “Turn Your Eyes Upon Jesus” and “O That Will Be Glory”. The congregational hymn was “How Great Thou Art”. Casket bearers were: Bernard, Brent, and Dick Arbuck, Ryan Friesner, Don Bristol and Dave Domeier. Honorary bearers were: Federal Bridgman, Richard Ekwall, Darryl Hunt, Kenneth Kness, and George Thompson. Interment was in the Geneva Public Cemetery. The Nebraska Signal August 12, 1998
