Description	:	OBIT: Colleen (Cox Haberman Taylor) Sheaffer, 90, of Ellensburg, died February 20, 2001. Colleen was born June 6, 1910 in Lincoln County, Ore., to Fred and Ella Cox. The family homesteaded on federal land in the wilderness area of the Oregon Coastal Range where they farmed and harvested chittim bark. She attended school in Fisher and Alphine. Read More	OBIT: Colleen (Cox Haberman Taylor) Sheaffer, 90, of Ellensburg, died February 20, 2001. Colleen was born June 6, 1910 in Lincoln County, Ore., to Fred and Ella Cox. The family homesteaded on federal land in the wilderness area of the Oregon Coastal Range where they farmed and harvested chittim bark. She attended school in Fisher and Alphine. She had many stories about this part of her life, one in particular was making her first trip to Corvallis, Ore. The unbelievable sight of two-story buildings that seemed as skyscrapers to her 12-year-old eyes. In 1926, the family moved to Grandview were she married Nick Haberman in November of 1929. In 1937, they moved to Ellensburg and farmed in the Badger Pocket for two years. Colleen and Nick bought the Light House Motel in 1938 and moved to town. During the next 23 years they, with the help of four children, owned and operated three motels, two grocery stores, two service stations and two restaurants. Their business interests were sold shortly before Nick's death in 1961. Colleen and Clarence Taylor were married in 1963 and he died the following year. Colleen and Ed Sheaffer were married in July of 1966. They lived in the Manastash Canyon for a number of years before moving to town. Ed and Colleen enjoyed their retirement years as members of Good Sams and fishing numerous Eastern Washington lakes. Colleen was a devoted member of St. Andrews Catholic Church where she was a member of the Alter Society. She was a charter member of the 4K Club and remained a member for 50 years, as well as a member of Tops for 30 years. She had many interests but fishing and dedication to her family were her passions. Colleen is survived by her four children, Don (Vicki) Haberman of Enumclaw, Eleanor (Stan) Gray of Ellensburg, Walt (Joyce) Haberman of Methow and Helen (Jim) Hutchinson of Ellensburg; 12 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren; one sister, Beulah (Nelson) of Yakima; and three brothers, Edra Cox of Battleground, Steve Cox of Snohomish and Woodrow Cox of Sedrox Woolley. A scripture service were held at 7 p.m., February 22 at St. Andrew's Catholic Church, with mass of Christian Burial to follow at 11 p.m., February 23 at the church. Visitation was held at Steward and Williams Funeral Home on Friday from 8:30 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. The family suggest memorials be made to a charity of your choice.
