She passed away peacefully and naturally in her sleep at Whispering Pines Personal Care Home in Roundup, MT. Cause of death was heart failure brought on by Alzheimer's disease. She was born in Missoula, MT on April 24, 1938 to John and Dorothy (Lancelle) Bartlett and grew up on her Great Grand Father Nicholas Lancelle's homestead/ranch, located on the West side of Yellow Water Reservoir in Petroleum County, MT. Connie loved horses and spent many hours riding and working cattle. She attended school in Winnett, MT graduating from Winnett High School in 1956. Connie then married Donald Belk in Texas and to them were born two boys, Daniel and Leslie. Donald and Connie had been married only 5 years when Donald was killed in an electrical accident. Connie and boys moved back to Montana where she met and married Neil Bayers. They had a son James (Jay) Bayers ... Neil adopted Daniel and Leslie. Connie and Neil divorced after 4 years. Connie then went to work as a dental assistant to Dr. Gorder and Dr. Jack Marmon in Roundup, MT. Connie married Jean Nesheim in 1979. Jean often told Connie he wished he had met her 20 years sooner. For the next 41 years, they danced, went bowling, shared cooking meals and traveled to visit Connie's children and grandchildren and Jean's children and grandchildren. Connie was a lady of many interests and talents and always busy. She knitted, embroidered, made hand stamped greeting cards for all occasions, made flower arrangements and corsages. She enjoyed reading, dancing, bowling and playing pinochle and was a member of the Roundup TOPS group, a member of Roundup Rebekah Lodge and a member of Roundup Evangelical Bible Church, aka "Gospel Country." In 1993 Connie was elected to Roundup City Council as Alderman - Ward 1. Connie also had an ancestor who was involved in public service; his name was Josiah Bartlett, one of the signers of the Declaration of Independence, a physician and governor of New Hampshire. Connie was preceded in death by her parents, son James (Jay), brothers Joe and James and husbands Donald and Neil. Survivors include husband Jean, sons Daniel Belk and Leslie Bayers, 9 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. The family can't say enough about the excellent care Connie received while at Whispering Pines. To Rose, Laura, Heather, Kellie and others .... Thank You All So Much ... God Bless You All! And to the RNs and LPNs of Compassus Hospice, a big thank you for your professional and compassionate help in looking after Connie! Memorials may be made to Alzheimer's Association, Restless Legs Syndrome Foundation, or a charity of your choice. Graveside service will take place this spring at the Flatwillow cemetery, Flatwillow, MT, in Petroleum County with ashes being placed in the Lancelle/Bartlett family plot.
