Connie Sue Roan was born January 27, 1944, in Mt. Ayr, IA to Hallie Robert Moore and Elma Lucille (Willey) Moore. She graduated from Diagonal High School in 1962 and then attended a beauty school and was certified at a school of cosmetology in Des Moines. On September 22, 1963, Connie married Donald E. Roan in Afton, Iowa. They lived all of their lives in Afton. Connie owned her own Beauty Shop for several years. Connie also worked for her mother at the Moore's Nursing Home in Afton until it closed. She was a beauty operator in the Hair Salon at Spurgeons in Creston and also did hair and worked in the dietary dept. at the Afton Care Center. Connie later became the Dietary Supervisor after her mother retired. Connie retired in 2005. Connie loved to do her crafts, crocheting, knitting, embroidery and later quilting. Her love for Elvis showed. She saw him in his only appearance in Iowa and collected a lot of Elvis items. Connie and Don enjoyed going to dances. They followed Shari Hanna and the Skyline for several years. Connie is survived by her daughter, Christine (Troy); son, Danial; grandchildren: Patrick (Amanda), Jesse, Benjamin and Emma; two great-grandchildren, Ella and Eli; brothers, Bob (Janet), Wayne (Mary); sister in-law, Marjorie (Pete); and her uncle, Gerald (Jean); along with several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald, in March 2018, her parents, mother and father-in-law, Mary Adalade (Eischen) & Roy Raymond Roan; brother-in-law, Richard (Vera Jane Eckels) Roan; sister-in-law, Marilyn (Harry) Clark and daughter-in-law, Amy (Berry) Roan.
