Description	:	Conrad Edward Cook, youngest child of Conrad Edward and Emma Schluening Cook, was born June 17, 1923, in Hastings and died on December 18, 1977, at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Lincoln at age 54 years, 6 months and 1 day. He was a graduate of Fairmont high school. During World War II he served with the U. S. Navy on the USS Saratoga from June 16, 1944 to April 29, 1946. Read More	Conrad Edward Cook, youngest child of Conrad Edward and Emma Schluening Cook, was born June 17, 1923, in Hastings and died on December 18, 1977, at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Lincoln at age 54 years, 6 months and 1 day. He was a graduate of Fairmont high school. During World War II he served with the U. S. Navy on the USS Saratoga from June 16, 1944 to April 29, 1946. After returning from the service, Mr. Cook spent his entire life farming south and east of Fairmont. He was the third generation to farm the place where he resided at the time of his death, the Cook family having lived there for over 75 years. Mr. Cook was a member of Lt. Earl Forbes American Legion Post No. 21. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, J. Howard of North Platte and Robert, in infancy, and one sister, Gladys, who died in infancy. He leaves to mourn his death, one brother, George H. Cook of Omaha; and three sisters, Ethel M. Beggs of Lakewood, Cal., Mrs. Marie Weber of Geneva and Mrs. Ruth Murray of Hastings. He also leaves nieces and nephews and many friends. Funeral services were conducted from the Fairmont Community Church in Fairmont on Wednesday, December 21. Rev. Jay Vetter officiating. Mr. and Mrs. Federal Bridgman sang, "The Old Rugged Cross" and "In the Garden." Nancy Jo Galusha was accompanist. Pallbearers were Ray Lundber, Ted Hedden, Francis Jacobsen, Robert Stephenson, Leslie Miles, and Ronald Krejci. Interment was in the Fairmont Cemetery. Military rites at the cemetery were conducted by members of Lt. Earl Forbes American Legion Post No. 21 of Fairmont. World War II, U.S. Navy, Radar Man 3rd Class The Nebraska Signal 29 December 1977.
