Read More	CONRAD GERKEN DIES AFTER LONG ILLNESS Funeral services were held Saturday morning from St. Mary's Catholic church in West Point for Conrad Gerken, who died Wednesday at his home after a lingering illness of several months duration. Rev. Msgr. Bosheck officiated at the funeral service and burial was made in St. Michael's cemetery. Conrad Gerken was born on a farm south west of West Point February 2, 1872 to Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Gerken. He received his education in the public and parochial schools in West Point and on May 3, 1899 was married at Aloys to Miss Elizabeth Stratman. They were the parents of seven children; two daughters preceeding him in death; Clara in infancy and Ella in 1936. Before his illness he was active in business circles of the community and in his service to the church. He was a member of St. Mary's church and the local organization of Knights of Columbus, members of which group served as pall bearers at his funeral. At the time of his death he was agent for an insurance company in Bloomington, Illinois and for a German Mutual insurance company with head quarters at Scribner. Surviving Mr. Gerken are his wife, Elzabeth; five children Gertrude of Omaha; Margaret, Mrs. J. E. Eimers of Lyons; Joseph, William and Christine of West Point; two grand children, Bobby and Billy Eimers; two brothers, William of Dallas, So. Dak.; Charles of West Point; and five sisters, Sr. M. Hyancinth of the Benedictine convent at Clyde, Mo. Mrs. Christine Ellis and Mrs. Jack Haas of Sioux City, Iowa;; Mrs. Leo Casey of Riverview, Wyoming and Mrs. P. H. Lammers of Hartington, Nebr. Those from out-of-town who attended his funeral were W. C. Gerken of Dallas, So. Dak.; Mr. and Mrs. P. H. Lammers and family of Hartington; Mr. and Mrs. Jack Hass and children, Mrs. Christine Ellis, Sister Bernadett and Sister Hildegard of Sioux City; Hillard Maly and A. Kaiser of Crofton; Mr. and Mrs. H. C. Iske, Miss Laura Kelly, Mrs. Arnold Sharp, Henry Bank, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Denesia and Miss Mae Griffith of Omaha; Mr. and Mrs. Henry Leviger, Mrs. Carlton Shumay, James Burns of Lyons; Chris Stuehmer, William Mohr and Arthur Shultz of Scribner.
