The bodies were in a car parked on a side road about two miles south of Dunlap. Dead are Connie Melby, 19, daughter of Willard Melby and Thomas Block, 24, son of Mrs. Marie Block, all of Dunlap. Funeral service for Miss Melby were held Tuesday afternoon from St. John Lutheran church and for Mr. Block Tuesday morning from St. Patrick's Catholic church. The bodies were found by Mary Jane Roberts, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Rob Roberts who live in the area. She called her father and authorities were notified. An investigation was made by Patrolman Conrad Knickman of Dunlap. Dr. C. W. Byrnes, Harrison County Medical Examiner and Deputy Sheriff Mike Epperson of Logan. It was estimated the couple had been dead from 10 to 16 hours, examiners said. The parked car had been noticed by other people but no one had stopped to investigate. The siren alarm called the Dunlap Emergency Unit about 6:30 o'clock Saturday evening to aid in bring the bodies to Dunlap. SERVICES TUESDAY FOR CONNIE MELBY Funeral services were held for Connie Melby Tuesday, May 28, 1968 at 2:00 p.m. from the St. John Lutheran Church. Rev. Harry Sorensen of Soldier officiated. Barrett Funeral Home had charge of the arrangements with burial in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery. Pallbearers were Marvin Melby, Paul Weber, Howard Andrews, Ray Dean Gordon, Robert TenEyck, and Mickey Gordon. Constance Ann Melby was born April 18, 1949, to the late Mrs. Willard Melby and Willard Melby, and died May 25, 1968. She lived near Dunlap graduating form the Dunlap Community School in 1967. Connie was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran Church. Her mother preceded her in death in 1964. Survivors are her father, six brothers, Roger of Woodbine, Harold of Iowa City, David, Royce of Woodbine and Wayne and Ricky at home; three sisters, Karen, Diane and Marcia, all at home, and her grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. William TenEyck of Dow City.
