Constance (Connie) Lorine Nelson Crouse Briggs was born May 17, 1935, in Story County, Iowa, and passed away September 30, 2019, in Polk County, Iowa, at the age of 84 years. She was preceded in death by parents, Orville & Winifred Nelson; sisters Virginia Martin, Anita Sesker, and Shirley Noland; husbands John C. Crouse and C. Henry Briggs; and one granddaughter, Kimberly Ann Crouse Ragland. She is survived by her brother, Vernon Nelson; 4 children, Wendell Crouse (Cindy), Lesa Danhauer (Bob), JF Crouse (Kathy), and David Crouse (Gloria); 9 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-grandchild. Connie graduated as valedictorian from high school in Shipley, Iowa in 1953. She married John Crouse and moved to several states before settling in Clinton, Missouri, where they ran Fat Dad’s restaurant north of town. After the passing of John Crouse in 1995, Connie married C. Henry Briggs of Clinton, Missouri. She was a member of the Clinton United Methodist Church. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends whose lives were touched by her sharp wit and sweet smile. We’ll hold her in our hearts forever.
